| Hello Dirk, Just to wish you a happy 62nd birthday. By amazing coincidence for me, I logged onto your web site for the first time ever today on March 1st without knowing when your birthday was. Although from your point of view this is no coincidence since I imagine countless fans log on to various web sites of yours for the other 364 days. I thought you were great in CBB. Although I tuned in intiially after the race row broke out, I carried on watching it principly to see what you would say and do next. Your dry wit and intellect were in stark contrast to the usual calibre of housemate. I admired your ability to cope with the other housemates and the tasks as well. Doubtless Shilpa was a great consolation! Also you are if I may say, amazingly good looking for some one of your age! Now that I have read your web site, I put this down to your macrobiotic diet rather than hair dye! Im sorry CBB were too mean to allow you to win the being funny task. I have to confess I didnt think your horse joke was the funniest I had ever heard, but I chuckled at your limerick! I wrote a fan letter to Channel Four soon after CBB finished with various ideas for TV programs for you to appear in, but I dont think they took any notice of me. I didnt see you in any guest appearances in any shows afterwards either which was a shame. If you were to appear on British TV as yourself presenting something, that would be delightful. I confess that I saw not one episode of the A Team back in the 80s. I guess I thought that it just wasnt my thing, although from your description it sounded like quite an amusing parody. Nor did I recognise you as Starbuck either Im afraid. Thus my sole impression of you has been formed from your appearence in CBB. Although there are some very attractive youthful versions of you in the few A Team shots I have seen, your face seems to have more character now with an attraction of its own. I along with over a million other Brits put you into third place. I didnt think you would win, but I thought I would give you a bigger share to thank you for being so entertaining. According to one rag you got 16% percent of the votes but it is impossible to know the accuracy of this figure since the percentages of votes for Big Brother finals always add up to over a hundred! I lived in Massachusetts as a child for a couple of years in the late sixties and then later on briefly in Houston. My father still regards the US as his spiritual home. Although I was much younger, America has left its mark on me as well. I have a permanent bond with American wildlife and have always found Americans on the whole to be kinder than the British. Whatever you are doing now. I hope you have a great day. It is getting late now and I shall sign off before it ceases to be your birthday by British time. I dare say you have got over the jet lag by now! with best wishes, Penny |
